Just over 8 hours away, Savannah and Tybee Island are beautiful places to visit if you’re looking for history and Atlantic relaxation. You can also take a quick flight to Savannah (1.5 hours). Savannah is full of history and culture and offers many local shops and restaurants. And 20 minutes south you will find Tybee Island. It is full of sandy beaches, water sports activities and perfect for building sand castles. Also check and inspect the fire house.

We cannot forget the Mississippi coast. It is only a 7 hour drive from Nashville. Or for fun, you can fly into New Orleans and drive up (about an hour’s drive north) for a scenic adventure. sure, this area has miles and miles of sandy beaches and water activities, but there are other fun attractions. Gulfport has a children’s museum, a water park, a drag race, a railroad museum, the INFINITY Science Center (a NASA space station) and an aquarium.

To get to this area, you can take a quick flight (1.5 hours) or drive for about 8 hours. Charleston is another Atlantic coastal city full of history, cobblestone paths, world-class restaurants and sandy beaches. There is an aquarium and children’s museum for children, and golf and spa for parents. If your family enjoys learning about history, check out Fort Sumter. Charleston is also the perfect place for a single mom getaway.

If you want more privacy, head to the Isle of Palms. It’s about 30 minutes east and is a great little area for families. This small island has many rentals, restaurants, shopping, water sports and fishing.
