What What do you mean we’re back to school already? It is the beginning of August. It’s pool season again. Summer is still here. It’s still 90 degrees outside. There’s still more traveling to do, burgers to grill, and late nights to eat! Well, maybe I can live with the fact that it’s time to go back to school (and now I can do a little more work at home). However, I can’t live with the fact that my sweet little boy is in the third grade! How did this happen? I know, all parents say it: time flies and kids grow up so fast. However, now I’m experiencing it myself and I have no problem saying that I don’t like it! I hate it. Indeed, I curse like a sailor with too much rum in his belly!

This morning, as I took my son to school, I thought about how things have changed and how different they are now. What happened to my baby!? Of course, I’m very proud of him and the great young man he’s becoming, but I also thought about and laughed a little at all the ways he’s changed.

So I went home and sat down at the computer and put together 10 reasons why my son is growing up so fast! I’m sure many of you will recognize yourselves in this list!
1 – The “I love you dad” and hugs and kisses to say goodbye at school were still there but they had to be much more discreet – so that all her friends didn’t see it!
2- He doesn’t think Scooby Doo pajamas are cool anymore. Now he sleeps in sweatpants and no shirt. I have to admit that I can be a little guilty of impressing them all.
3 – His dance idea is no longer the cute, cartoonish homemade B-bop. Now that’s a butt-shaking music video, complete with soaking wet behavior and amazing posing! But I tell him proudly, he is a great dancer and he can make a career out of his moves! We can thank the mother for this effect.

4 – For the first time, she took care of her hair and appearance before leaving the house this morning! The highlight is asking dad if he can borrow some “hair product”!
Most of his old favorites, the things that Santa and Dad spent hours looking for, have now been put on the back shelf and replaced by iPads, adventure binoculars and a really cool scooter that “gets carried away. Is”! »
6 – Now he asks me when he can get his social media accounts! Needless to say, this debate was put on the back burner for a few more years. The little guy won’t be posting videos on Facebook and photos on Instagram anytime soon. Even if he has the technical skills to do so at all.
7 – He no longer runs around the supermarket to collect fruit roll-ups and fruit loops, he now looks for organic fruit… and reads the ingredients on the label! But I have to say I’m really proud of it.

8 – Talking about food, yogurt tubes, macaroni and cheese, and quesadillas is no longer enough. Right after finding organic fruit, he asks us if we can make a nice fillet and caprese salad for dinner! I think I’ve created a Food Network lover monster!
9 – He still held my hand as I crossed the street, but instead of looking for cars, he stopped me and said, “Dad, wait a minute and look both ways!” »
10 – And finally it looks different! My cute two-foot-tall baby turned into a five-foot-tall miniature version of me! The clothes are big, the shoes are big, the attitude is a little big and he looks bigger than life!
