Monday Night Countdown (officially Monday Night Countdown by Panera) is an American pregame television show that airs on ESPN for Monday Night Football. On non-Monday network broadcasts, the pregame show is called NFL Countdown. When it debuted on NFL Prime Mondays in 1993 and Monday Night Football aired on ABC, the pregame show was one of the first negotiations between ESPN and ABC Sports, each at the time largely operating under different management. The show was renamed Monday Night Countdown in 1998 to match its Sunday sister show NFL Countdown, and Monday Night Football moved from ABC to ESPN in 2006. Stewart Scott moves to NFL Primetime for Monday Night Countdown and Chris Berman moves from NFL Primetime to Monday Night Countdown, joining returning commentators Tom Jackson and Michael Irwin and new Sunday NFL Countdown commentator Steve Young.
