Are Interstate Batteries At Costco Good

Are Interstate Batteries At Costco Good – Hi to all. I hope I’m in the right forum to ask this question. I have read many previous posts about upgrading a stock 51R battery to at least a 55R. Others have even replaced the 35 or 24F (I think it’s one). My question or concern is about the CCA rate. I don’t know if the others are good or harmful above 24F@700CCA,

With my self-build, it’s not my daily driver. Toadie is a Galapagos Green 2004 EX with 71,000 that I got last October.

BTW I’m starting with Halo Bolt which is awesome. Starts on first crank and shows full charge after 4 starts. I highly recommend this gem.

Costco Battery Warranty Is Great

Either would be ideal, with the 24 being slightly lighter and 15-20% heavier. I only included the 35 because it’s a nice increase in capacity over the original 51, but if you have additional power requirements like stereo or camping gear, you’ll want to go with the 24. You’ll need a new battery tray, wider mounts, and longer J -hooks but it’s an easy upgrade.

Make sure I go for the 35 at Costco because I doubt they carry new discs and such. I would do it myself, but I don’t want to deal with it anymore.

Also wondering if there is any benefit to keeping the old one? I have to pay an additional $15 initiation fee either way. 51r dried at least 4 times just sitting. I have a portable solar charger anyone have any ideas?

Update the old 51r. I just plugged the AC charger into it and within 1/2 hour it was fully charged. I’m wondering if it looks like it’s dried out and not completely dry or damaged because I know a full drain will do. The battery showing the 2018 date is obviously not original. I have not run any other camping accessories from this home battery as I have a 500w solar charger for the fridge.

New Battery Doesn’t Fit?

I’m just trying to educate myself specifically on E because they have such a following. Ever since my first 49 Ford, I have loved learning and working on my cars until they are computer generated. Maybe that’s why my E is so popular – simple, functional, keep it simple. So now, at 80, I’ll leave it to others to sort it out, but I don’t want to take advantage of either. πŸ€ͺπŸ€ΈπŸ»β€β™€οΈ

The time it takes to charge the battery depends largely on the power of your charger. If you only have a trickle charger (like most of us) and it fully charges in 30 minutes. This battery is not big for this world! πŸ™

However, according to a 2 year old battery that has been drained 4 times, it just asks you to keep it anyway. A new battery is cheap insurance against these problems.

Okay. They’re just called costco and found out they don’t put batteries in because it’s too difficult liability wise. Sold for your installation or DIY only. Really????

Autozone will install the battery for free. Around here they do anyway. (Probably discounters and O’Reilly and Walmart do too.) But their prices will be between $20 and $25 higher for comparable batteries.

Thanks again. Expect to meet them. Hopefully they will have the necessary parts for the larger size as well.

Quick Question: Purchased Interstate H8 (49) Battery From Costco But It Doesn’t Say Mtx….

I have 4 bikes now and I’m tired of sending them every 3 weeks. I also have a car with 4 drivers and with the corona virus I drive less now. So I got NOCO Genius2 maintenance battery chargers for motorcycles and NOCO Genius 5 car chargers. Both chargers can stay on the battery continuously for maintenance and have a battery desulfurization function. Genesis 5 also has an editing function. I would try the repair on your original battery and leave it installed so the battery doesn’t drop out. The Genius 5 is currently $55.97. It can repair your battery and prevent it from drying out. The battery must be disconnected from the vehicle when using the repair function.

The alternator can easily charge large batteries because it has internal electronic controls that limit the charging rate.

That said, there are physical limitations like cables that don’t reach or fit well, the battery tray is too small, and/or you can’t secure it properly. This last one is more important than you think because you can’t leave the battery in the engine compartment for various reasons.

An old battery, like anything 4 to 6 years old, will lose capacity due to sulphation of the plates. The internal resistance rises and the potential drops because there is not enough lead and lead material to supply the current required to start the starter. There is voltage but very low potential (current). They also disconnect quickly and are not caused by parasitic load from the rest of the electrical system.

When you test a battery, it’s usually done with a full charge or as much charge as needed. An old battery seems to charge very quickly and this is a sign of low capacity. Now, a common (connected) battery tester, injects a signal into the battery that measures the resistance associated with the internal resistance, and the higher the resistance, the lower the capacity. Generally there is a relationship between internal resistance and battery capacity.

Now, I had a problem where the battery testers said the battery was fine and it did the same thing your battery does: it dies in a few days. So I always test with both resistors and resistance testers and it never finds a bad battery.

BTW, the depth of the battery is the main reason for the short discharge time. Leave the radio on and the battery close to where your car rarely starts and you’ve just shortened your life considerably. And a battery nearing its limit will take longer to charge the alternator, especially if it has other loads competing for the alternator’s output.
